The Beginning Founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1963, by Tom Zimmerman, Alamo
Transformer’s sole service was to repair utility style distribution
transformers. This included both minor repair and total rewind of the core and
coil. Through the years, with their reputation preceding them, the area served
by ATSCO grew and grew, adding new customers on a regular basis. Later, in response to customers’ needs, ATSCO went on to stock and sell transformers – as added service for old and new customers alike. From that day forward, ATSCO has been fulfilling the day to day needs of it’s customers. ATSCO has always had one of the most complete and skilled workforces in the industry. In 1982, seeing that customers were requiring a wider range of products and assistance, ATSCO purchased a facility for repairing small to medium power transformers and switchgear. This facility, located in Houston, Texas, later became the Power Systems Division while the San Antonio facility was named the Distribution Transformer Division. With the expanded production capabilities and additional expertise that the Power Systems Division provided, ATSCO continued to grow and prosper in the ever-changing economy. Today, with employees numbering almost 70, ATSCO has the capability to accommodate today’s divergent market, from the small electrical contractor to the largest utility. |
